Ahhhhh the sweet sound of rain is trickling down around me and I feel somewhat peaceful today. While others get the blues from the rain, I look forward to the beginning of fall and that first wonderful rainfall.
I can't tell you what it is that does it to me, but I get this sense of hunkering down and stockpiling for the winter. Which is odd as by all accounts I am the version of an Undomestic Goddess and am not your typical girl, never have been, most likely never will be. I am unconventional by nature, and for me, I prefer it that way. I have guarded my wings all my life as I would die if they were clipped. Perhaps, that is the problem I am having with my constant chronic pain issues and coming to terms with it. While the pain has not clipped my wings, it has significantly bruised them in more ways than one. And so I am one who really appreciates the freedom of coming and going.
But the rain, oh the sweet rain, it gives me this sense of doing. It's hard to describe but it is this feeling of warm cozy fires, blankets and good books, fresh cookies out of the oven, watching movies by candlelight, bubble baths and snuggling on the couch.
And crazily enough, this time of year changes me from an Undomestic Goddess to the Queen of Domestication, a nester, a gatherer and a homebody. And funnily enough, I love it. What's more, is even though my nesting instincts are kicking in, the rain still makes me feel free.
My friend Dawn wrote earlier this week in her fb status line: “Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain”. That's how I feel about today, to just let go and dance in the rain, but alas, the domestication is calling me loudly, something about cookies and chocolate chips. And so, perhaps, I think I will let the Domesticated Queen out today to play.
Here's hoping your day brings you all the wonderful pleasures you deserve.
And to my wonderful new followers who have recently signed up, thank you, I am so happy to see you here. You and my pre-existing followers have made my day in more ways than you will ever know.
Happy Monday to you all.
Until Next Time.

can you bake some cookies for me too???? :)
ReplyDeleteSometimes it's just not easy being us ... holding that standard of Domestic Godess can be a challenge some days. Oops... my apologies ... I see you called yourself a Domestic Queen ~ truly, Your Highness ~ my apologies. Cookies... my chocolate chips don't last long enough to get into the dough.
ReplyDeleteIsn't this funny, I too LOVE the rain.... I was sitting in the car at a stop light thinking about how cleansing and refreshing the rain is. The sound of the raindrops on the roof, the rhythmic beating of the wipers and the cool freshness in the air soothes my soul. As these thoughts danced around in my head, I thought, Hhmm, I wonder if Tracy is enjoying the rain right now as much as I am :)
ReplyDeleteI am definitely not a Domestic anything, but Fall does bring on the urge to tidy up and organize! I do love the first rain of fall, so gentle,so different from the harsh pounding rains of summer. Today is beautiful here, it was actually chilly when I got up today! Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid nothing gives me the urge to tidy up and organize, until I start tripping over everything. I do love the rain. Grew up in the desert and rain always brought out the fragrance of sagebrush and rabbitbrush. It was so refreshing and relaxing.
ReplyDeleteHi! Just wanted to say I love your blog layout. It's so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI love this post! Even though I'm from Hawaii, I love the weather of the Pacific Northwest.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way... I seem to nest more when it's raining than when it's sunny. When it's sunny I want to lie around and be lazy all day. But once the rain and snow hits, I want to cook and cozy the house up with yummy smells and the warmth of the fireplace. Ah, this post made me smile.
Have a wonderful day and I hope your weekend was just as great! :)
I'm new to your blog ... what a wonderful post! I love the rain too...
ReplyDeleteHave a great day :)

I like the new look on your blog.
ReplyDeleteI too love the rain....and fall....but now, fall means to WAY TO EARLY arrival around here of winter. and I DREAD winter...it is long here, cold, and isolating.
I. Don't. Like. It.
can I dance in the rain naked...I can around here ya know as I live in the country with no close neighbors.
also, you mentioned to me once that you'd follow me but noticed where was my Follow Me link.
I had one once, and then got all to carried up with"WHO and how many were following me"
so I decided to eliminate it.
I love love LOVE to dance in the rain, Tracy. We have rain, for the third day now. Autumn really is just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteHave a happy Wednesday! xx
I too love the rain. I love to wake up and hear it hitting the windows in my bedroom. It just soothes my soul......
ReplyDeleteWell here I go again. I only like the rain once in a while, just enough to water the flowers that's it.
ReplyDeleteI did dance naked in the rain, (I think I told you that once before) and loved it, but it was a summer rain. It poured for 20 minutes, and poof gone. Good.
Living in Van. for 13 years was the real deal breaker. Randy would never move back. First of all his allergies would come back, none here, and he loves the blue sky in the winter as much as the snow.
I do LOVE Van. in the sunshine, but when it rained it just wouldn't stop.
Ok that's it for tonight.
I have to email you something I got from a blogger friend. All about smoothies and such for chronic pain sufferers. BTW Randy loves the sour cherry juice ; )
Happy Monday Tracy.
