WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE

Have you ever stepped out of your front door and just taken a good long look at what is moving, breathing, living, and just simply being.  I do all the time.  Something strong was ingrained into me since the day I was born into this phenomenal world. I really and honestly take the time to notice where I tread and I do as much as I possibly can to tread lightly. Since I was a child, and even more as I have become older, I have saved my fair share of insects that have been trapped, I have released snakes that the boys in the neighbourhood caught, and once, I even tackled a boy bigger than me because he was being cruel to his reptiles.  Besides my mother, most people are not even aware of the fact that when I drive down the road and see innocent animals killed by our vehicles that I say a prayer for each and everyone of them to ensure that their little souls are blessed.  No matter how older I become, it continually breaks my heart and brings tears to my eyes when I see them lying there. I feel this odd sense of vibration from the earth, and some may say its crazy, but the fact remains that I feel that I have been blessed with this incredible connection with nature and I can feel the life in everything.  In all honesty, there are actual times I feel cursed too because I am more heart wrenched then I am heart warmed.

The beauty of living on this breathtaking planet is a privilege and its right there on every side road, street, highway, forest, backyard, mountain, valley, lake, river, ocean, sea and sky.

Now that you think I am crazy, and perhaps I am, I did decide this weekend to take photos of what you can find on the side of the road, if you take the time to look ever so closely... And what I found is that the beauty of nature springs where you least expect it...

Today I am joining asoutherndaydreamer.blogspot.com and if you click on the button to the right entitled "Outdoor Wednesday", you will see some fabulous pictures by some incredibly talented individuals.

Until Next Time.

  3. I once beat up a boy (a friend of my brothers) for shooting a frog with his BB gun. That frog and every other living creature has just as much right to be on this earth as we do.
Love the pics! Don't you love the chicory that grows alongside the roads? So many pretty flowers, they aren't weeds, but are misplaced plants. My nickel's worth for the day:)

  4. It is so very scary how alike we are.

My little prayer is, "Be free little buddy!" I feel both sad and angry at the same time, it's not the natural cycle of nature for an innocent soul to leave the planet in such a manner.

When I see a living, breathing, creature near the side of the road I always make sure it knows to, "Please, stay off the road!" It's very important to be polite and use the word "please".

And then there's my drive home everyday, I always say hello to the geese on Somenos marsh, "Hi guys!" and to the cows in Quist's field, "Hello cows!". They are such pretty cows, such an unusual shade of grey/brown.

I'm sure people must think I'm just singing along to the radio but if they really knew the converstaion I was having they just might have me committed.

P.S. I absolutely adore the picture of the daisies. The daisies that grow on the side of the road by the thousands are my most favorite flower. They're kind of like me, wild and free and don't really care what other people think.

  5. I too feel that connection. I agree with you, it can be a curse. I feel an incredibly heavy burden to protect our furry, feathered, scaley and slippery neighbours. I'm surprised it hasn't gotten me into more trouble than it has! Recently I saved a very badly neglected pitbull. I just couldn't leave it! (it's happy and well cared for now :) )

Beautiful pictures! I love the last one! I'd love to do portraits there!

  13. If you are crazy, then so am I because I share your sentiments completely. I am aware of every sound as I head outdoors and often wonder if people even hear the songbirds and know the names of the little treasures that are singing to us each morning. Loved getting into birding so that now I recognize the sound of each bird in my neighborhood ♥
Wonderful post. Thanks for stopping by and I'm sorry you had trouble posting a comment, but glad you made it through.
